Health & Safety Director - Risk Management Expert

Asterix Communications is seeking a seasoned Health & Safety Director to lead our organization's safety initiatives and ensure a culture of compliance and risk management.
Role PurposeThe successful candidate will be responsible for driving the implementation of our Health & Safety strategy and plans, ensuring that all projects maintain the highest standards of safety in accordance with our organization's policies and industry best practices.
Key Accountabilities & ActivitiesThe Health & Safety Director will have the following key responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Safety Plans: Oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive safety plans for all projects, ensuring that all stakeholders are aware of their roles and responsibilities.
- Conduct Regular Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Lead the Safety Team: Lead and manage the safety team, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities to ensure that all team members are equipped to perform their duties effectively.
- Evaluate Contractor Safety Performance: Evaluate the safety performance of contractors and ensure that they are implementing robust safety plans and procedures.
- Develop and Implement Training Programs: Develop and implement training programs to ensure that all employees are aware of their safety responsibilities and are equipped to perform their duties safely.
- Investigate Incidents and Near Misses: Investigate all incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Develop and Implement Safety Policies and Procedures: Develop and implement safety policies and procedures that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with stakeholders, including project managers, contractors, and employees, to ensure that safety is integrated into all aspects of the organization.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety management, with a minimum of 18 years of experience in a similar role. They will possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders. A university degree from an accredited university or a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is required, as well as CMIOSH or equivalent certification.
