We are seeking a highly experienced Data Centre Project Director to join our team. As a Data Centre Project Director, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of cutting-edge Data Centres, Smart Technologies, and ICT infrastructure projects within our organisation.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in planning, designing, and delivering large-scale and complex Data Centres, Smart Technologies, and ICT infrastructure projects.

• Leads end-to-end project management for Smart Technology, ICT, and Data Centre initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and providing recommendations highlighting risk and mitigation strategies.
• Oversees the planning, design, implementation, and commissioning of ICT, Smart Technology, and Data Centres for the project.
• Promotes smooth coordination with consultants, ensuring they adhere to project timelines and meet clients' high-quality standards.
• Leads the design team in undertaking technical design reviews to ensure compliance with all Project Requirements and Strategy, Project, Design, and Development Briefs, including innovation, optioneering, and value engineering.
• Ensures design deliverables are provided by design consultants in accordance with their contract, district, and sub-district program requirements.
• Collaborates closely with internal departments, clients, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to fully understand project requirements and create innovative design solutions that satisfy client requirements and local codes and standards.
• Effectively manages required interfaces to raise possible impacts to project programs, budgets, and quality issues.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and integration of various design elements to achieve seamless progression from design, construction to final handover.
• Proactively monitors and tracks project progress, promptly identifying and resolving any design-related challenges or conflicts that may arise and reporting timeously on these.
• Efficiently manages and maintains meticulous project documentation, including design records, change orders, and necessary approvals.
• Initiates and chairs meetings with the client, consultants, design team, and stakeholders while capturing minutes of meetings as necessary.
• Manages all matters related to design being 'fit for purpose', specifically 'Safety in Design'.
• Leads the design sign-off process by all design consultants/sub-contract designers.
• Ensures quality assurance processes are in place to review design deliverables and ensure compliance with project specifications, design standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Ensures the team designs according to the cost/business plan, system, and operations plan.
• Assists Cost Consultants in assessing the cost of design changes and tracking accordingly, ensuring proper change management processes are adhered to throughout the design process.
• Oversees the production of Work Breakdown Structure for design/engineering deliverables which is suitable for production of design documentation and is in accordance with procurement, construction staging, and project phasing requirements.
• Oversees the governance of Shared and Published information within Delta B and all the Sub-Districts.
• Facilitates the coordination of interfaces between projects within Districts and City Infrastructure.
• Assists with the evaluation of RFP proposals and provides necessary support to the various business teams.
• Assists, prepares, and presents both progress reports and stage gate presentations for each project, highlighting key milestones, challenges, programmes, designs, costs/budgets, and achievements.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in ICT & Smart Technologies and Data Centres.
• An Engineering Master's degree would be an advantage.
• Any other relevant post-graduate degrees/diplomas would also be an advantage.
• Professional registration in respective discipline (i.e., Chartered Engineer or similar) is necessary.
• Registration as a Project Management Professional (PMP) would be an advantage.
• A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in the design and project delivery of ICT, Smart Technologies, and Data Centres, including detailed reviews, documentation, specifications, and staff coordination.
• Proven experience in planning, designing, and delivery of large-scale and complex Data Centres, Smart Technologies, and ICT infrastructure projects.
• In-depth knowledge of smart technology systems, data centre designs, and ICT network design.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity and compliance standards in ICT environments.
• Possess a strong knowledge of design principles, techniques, and best practices related to ICT, smart technologies, and data centres. Able to define design criteria, specifications, and operational requirements.
• Experience in delivery to programme, balancing competing requirements on project to deliver design outcome (e.g., cost v. time v. quality).
• Diverse experience working within Mega/large scale complex design and construction programs across private and/or government sectors would be an advantage.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget is necessary.
• Experience in coordinating and executing design activities, managing design consultants, engaging with stakeholders, and coordinating design team members is crucial for this role.
• Demonstrated strong leadership and management skills to set clear goals, motivate teams, and deliver results.
• You should be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with the ability to multi-task and prioritize your workload in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively articulate ideas, strategies, and project performance to a range of audiences, such as; clients, consultants, contractors, multi-disciplinary teams, and stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, coupled with attention to detail, are necessary.
• Foster a culture of Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing business requirements.
• Expertly manages and prioritizes the workload of the team, deadline-driven.
• Leverage in-depth knowledge in using engineering design software and related tools is necessary.
• Expert knowledge of both relevant industry and local standards, codes, and regulations.
• Supports team through periods of business change.
• Strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills and the ability to lead the function's direction, specifically endorsing or opposing practices as needed.
• Previous KSA/Middle East experience will be an advantage.
