Job Title: Laboratory Professional

FutureLab Medical Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Professional to join our team. As a Laboratory Professional, you will be responsible for performing routine laboratory tasks and tests, assisting with daily laboratory operations, and supporting the laboratory specialists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Laboratory Operations:
    • Perform routine laboratory tests and procedures under the supervision of a Lab Specialist.
    • Assist in the preparation of specimens for testing, including labeling, sorting, and storing samples.
    • Conduct basic analyses and record findings accurately.
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    • Clean and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure proper functioning.
    • Report any equipment malfunctions to the Lab Specialist for further action.
  • Sample Collection:
    • Collect samples from patients as needed, ensuring proper technique and adherence to safety protocols.
    • Ensure samples are handled and stored correctly to prevent contamination or degradation.
  • Data Management:
    • Enter test results and other relevant data into the laboratory information system accurately.
    • Maintain organized records of all laboratory activities and results.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Follow all laboratory safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Adhere to relevant regulatory standards and guidelines in all laboratory activities, including:
    • MOH
    • CAP
    • CBAHI
  • Inventory Management:
    • Monitor inventory levels of laboratory supplies and reagents.
    • Notify the Lab Specialist when supplies need to be reordered.
  • Quality Control:
    • Participate in quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
    • Assist in the calibration and standardization of laboratory equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Diploma or Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in a medical laboratory or hospital environment.
  • Certifications: Certification as a Laboratory Technician from a recognized professional body is preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is advantageous.

Knowledge:

  • Laboratory Procedures: Understanding of basic laboratory procedures and techniques.
  • Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS): Basic understanding of the computerized system to carry on core lab activities.
  • Safety Protocols: Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and best practices.
  • Equipment Operation: Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Local and International Governmental and Regulatory Acumen: Understanding and adherence to guidelines mandated by MOH, CAP, and CBAHI.

Skills:

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in using laboratory information systems and basic computer applications.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle routine technical issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of confidentiality and integrity.
