Job Title: Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Coordinator

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced WHS Coordinator to join our team at Talent Pal. As a WHS Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees and maintaining a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead site risk assessments for current and new activities to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
• Establish and implement site-specific WHS standards and guidelines to ensure compliance with local regulations and global standards.
• Develop and implement site WHS objectives and programs to promote a culture of safety and well-being among employees.
• Conduct daily WHS audits to identify non-compliance equipment and/or processes at the site and work with the Operations team to implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks and prevent injury.
• Attend to incidents and occupational injuries cases on site, guide and assist area managers on incident investigations, and communicate lessons learned to the team.
• Ensure the PPE inventory at site and coordinate with procurement for order placement to maintain a safe working environment.
• Conduct daily Powered Industrial Tool and Trailer Dock Release inspections and communications to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Monitor and support the Daily Action Tracking System to track and address safety concerns in a timely manner.
• Participate in site management safety walks to identify unsafe acts and conditions and provide insight to management.
• Provide daily updates to the Country WHS Manager on objectives progress, incidents, and other key safety metrics.
• Prepare WHS committee meeting agendas, MOM write-ups, and ATS creation to ensure effective communication and collaboration among team members.
• Review and sign off Daily Permit to Work to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Lead on WHS-related procurement and follow-up to ensure timely delivery of safety equipment and materials.
• Prepare emergency response plans and manage emergency drills to ensure the team is prepared for unexpected events.
• Establish and monitor Heat Index to ensure employee safety in extreme temperatures.
• Provide support to site-specific requests, unplanned events, and activities to ensure a safe working environment.
• Conduct daily and weekly WHS audits to identify and address safety concerns in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

• Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer focus skills.
• Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
• Experience leading and managing a team to ensure effective communication and collaboration among team members.
• Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses.
• Experienced in emergency response and currently holds First Aid and CPR certificates.
• Experience in Worker's Compensation case management.
• Passion for safety and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
