Assists in the implementation of the Safety Program across multidisciplinary research laboratories, with a primary focus on ensuring the safety and well-being of personnel in relation to biological, chemical, and occupational hazards.

**Essential Responsibilities and Duties**:
1. Collaborates with the laboratory staff to integrate safety practices into operations. Including promoting safe work practices that align with regulatory requirements, best management practices, and the Hospital’s Safety Policy.

2. Conducts safety inspections, compliance reviews, and hazard assessments of research laboratories, animal facilities, and other support facilities. To ensures that potential risks and hazards are identified, and appropriate measures are taken to mitigate them.
- 3. Maintains accurate records of laboratory inspections, correspondence, and investigations. Also monitor the completion of required safety actions and follow-up on lab permit/registration renewals in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- 4. Maintains a working knowledge of standard safety guidelines, and anticipates trends in laboratory safety and environmental health. Evaluate the impact of these trends and effectively communicate any necessary requirements or changes to management.
- 5. Maintains detailed records of daily activities, ensuring accurate documentation of safety-related tasks and responsibilities. Also monitor safety in the workplace and keep reference materials up to date, facilitating easy access to essential safety information.
- 6. Assists in developing policies, guidelines, and procedures related to biological, chemical, and physical hazards and processes. To help establishing comprehensive safety protocols within the Research & Innovation.
- 7. Assists in the safety response utilizing appropriate spill kits, reporting incidents/accidents, conducting investigations, root-cause analysis, and implementing necessary corrective and preventive measures to prevent recurrences.
- 8. Prepares and provides annual safety reports as directed. Assist in monitoring corrective actions to address safety concerns and ensure compliance with safety protocols within the Research & Innovation.

**Education**:
Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health, Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, Laboratory Safety, or other related discipline.

**Experience Required**:
Two (2) year of related experience with Master’s, or four (4) years with Bachelor’s Degree is required.

**Other Requirements(Certificates)**:
Safety Professional, Registered Biosafety Professional, or Certified Industrial Hygienist is preferred.
