**Position Summary**

Carries out a number of activities to assist with Mine Planning organization to accomplish the Business Plan and best practice objectives and the design of mine layout. Carries out short-term mine planning and scheduling activities and cost analysis. Utilizes Autocad and SURPAC software to prepare mine designs/layout. Contribute to Maaden’s continuous improvement initiatives by directing applicable continuous improvement initiatives and supporting specific project/improvement initiatives.

**General Management**
- Carries out all short term design activities for the mine.
- Discusses with Geologist and Chief Mine Engineer plan intent and previous activities before submitting preliminary designs for discussion, revision and agreement.
- Provides ongoing advice and comment to miners in relation to Mine Plans.
- Carries out detailed cost analysis for all mining and development activities including identifying and costing total tonnages and detailing variance requirements.
- Carries out ongoing variance analysis to match plans and achievements providing and discussing cost analysis reports at all levels within the Mine organization.
- Consults with other engineers on the design, selection and provision of machines, facilities and systems for mining, infrastructure such as access roads, water and power supplies, and protection or restoration of the environment.
- Estimates capital and operating viability. Prepares operation and project estimates and controls expenditure when mines come into production.
- Analyzes environmental sensitivities such as process being used, waste, chemicals, environmental / cultural, geo-political sensitivities.
- Ensures the availability of operating resources i.e. people, supplies and equipment. Includes planning and coordinating the utilization of labor and equipment consistent with efficiency, statutory, safety and environmental conditions.
- Analyses and compiles monthly and yearly statistical production reports for Management’s review, comment and information.
- Monitors and audits activities, providing guidance and measures to alleviate unsafe or damaging work practices.

**Mine Maintenance Planning**
- Ensure preparation of the work plan and time schedule for Preventive & Corrective Maintenance on a weekly basis and that sufficient resource are sourced from contractors and vendors in order to keep the Plant running optimally and continuously.

**Policies, Processes & Procedures**
- Contribute to the development of and ensure the implementation of functional policies, processes, procedures and controls covering mine maintenance planning at Al-Khabra Mine so that all relevant procedural/ legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering the appropriate quality, and targeted production from the assigned plant in a cost-effective manner.

**Shutdown and Turnaround Planning**
- Ensure a detailed action work plan and time schedule is produced for the shutdown (for emergencies) or turnaround (biennially).
- Monitor and report against this schedule on an ongoing basis during the shutdown/turnaround

**Minimum Education**:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mining Engineering,

**Experience and Qualifications**:
5+ years' experience in Mine Planning activities. Specialized knowledge in the use of AUTOCAD and SURPAC, plus use of various spread sheet software.
