Superintendent - Materials & Coatings

A Superintendent Materials & Coatings is a highly experienced technical professional responsible for the oversight of all the field coatings activities including material supply, subcontractors, staffing, tooling & equipment needs and interacting with onsite customer representative on a daily basis. This position is a Coatings Operations Supervisor role reporting to Construction or Operations Management

**Responsibilities**:

- Typically responsible for site coatings activities for an operating region, large project (greater than 150,000 site work hours), or a similar defined scope of work on a major project site
- Responsible for oversight of site coatings subcontractors, all site activities and the coordination of work fronts and schedules
- Able to reside at project sites or make regular visits and spend time at project sites
- Accountable for site logistics, including tools and equipment, contract materials, workforce scheduling to execute site coatings activities
- Responsible for the on-site implementation of and adherence to all Company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Security workplace programs and standards
- Establish a detailed coatings plan and schedule to provide for the efficient utilization of all labor, supplies, and equipment
- Responsible to meet coatings schedules and completion dates
- Knowledge of and assuring the safe operation of all coatings equipment and tooling
- Expert knowledge of Rigging & lifting equipment and associated activities; development and adherence to all Rigging & lift plans
- Responsible for site coatings production efficiencies and quality
- Verify that all CB&I field supervision and site subcontractors understand their specific scope of work
- Direct the various coatings trades and define their respective scopes of work. Manage Labor Relations per local requirements
- Responsible for management of site employees to comply with all labor standards and the proper treatment of employees per Company policies
- Manage time taking function to assure timely submittal and processing of employee payrolls
- Work directly with the site Field Coatings Supervision to manage coatings personal and address employee relations issues
- Work with the Project Manager to ensure all consumer/client site requirements are met
- Work to a schedule and ensure project milestones are met.
- Prepare for and participate in project review meetings as requested
- Establishes medium and long term career and personal development goals
- Utilizes communication skills appropriate to the environment, resulting in effective interactions with internal and external stakeholders
- Coordination of key plant and equipment across multiple projects to maximize efficiency
- Knowledge of automated surface preparation equipment
- Managing multi-national workforces

Qualifications:

- Typically 10+ years of relevant coatings supervision experience and 15+ years general construction experience
- Bachelor degree in construction management, engineering or equivalent technical and construction site coatings experience and knowledge
- Knowledge of relent industry codes and standards (OSHA, API, AWWA, NACE, SSPC, etc. - certifications preferred)
- Knowledge of relevant Blasting and Painting codes, standards, processes, and equipment (certifications preferred)
- Associated construction certifications preferred (Health, Safety & Environmental practices, inspection and operation of equipment, hoisting & lifting equipment, rigging, etc.)
- Knowledge of CB&I products and markets
