Role Purpose
(overall high level summary of the role)

The Head of Leveraged and Syndicated Finance Saudi Arabia will lead the origination and execution of all LAF activities in the Kingdom, with a focus on both event and flow financing for corporate, sovereign, and financial institution clients across all major currencies in the loan market across IG and sub-IG markets. The role involves strategic leadership, regulatory alignment, and close engagement with clients, lenders, and global teams to drive business growth and market share.

Project Management

  • Develop and execute the LAF strategy for Saudi Arabia in line with local, regional and global objectives.
  • Lead coverage efforts for key clients including GREs, large corporates, financial institutions, and sovereign/quasi-sovereign entities.
  • Supervise and manage deal teams within the full lifecycle of issuance: pitching, documentation, regulatory approvals, lender engagement, and pricing across all currencies
  • Lead and advise clients on optimal funding strategies, capital solutions, market timing, rating advisory, and documentation structures.
  • Develop though leadership across the credit spectrum and ensure sufficient capacity to support wider CMA activities.
  • Develop and supervise local distribution/syndications capabilities for local currency loans
  • Manage the distribution and lenders out-reach through road shows, client presentations and marketing.
  • Manages loan deals origination, structuring, and execution process including evaluating the clients financial and risk prfoile, as well as lead the client's due diligence and documentation process that support completing the transaction.
  • Develops indicative pricing for clients based on trade points in order to enable proposed pricing for a variety of terms to the maturity alongside respective syndicates
  • Ensures compliance with risk monitoring and money laundering policies and procedures in order to minimise the bank's exposure to risk.
  • Ensures that the products and service offering are tailored as per client feedback and requirements, market feedback, audit, compliance and sharia requirements
  • Understand and assess the existing market environment, monitor changes in external policy guidelines and evaluates their implications on project decisions
  • Review legal documents and contracts, interact with internal and external counsel in drafting and reviewing documents such as term sheets, in order to ensure consistency with the offering material

Business Development

  • Promotes HSBC SA's LAF solutions to clients through leading client pitches, road shows and marketing activities in order to achieve growth in business and achieve sales/revenues targets.
  • Manages the identification of business opportunities, and ensure consistency of coverage and maintaining high standards of execution
  • Identify and ensure cross selling opportunities through cross referral to key product partners.

Customers / Stakeholders

  • Manage key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, developing and maintaining strong working relationships with:
  • Internal: Finance Function, Internal Audit Function, Risk and Compliance, Marketing, and relevant Boards
  • External: Clients, Coverage Partners in SAB and HSBC Group, Consultants, industry bodies, regulators, governments and their agencies, International and local Banks and funding organizations (local and international government funds).
  • Work closely with the Product and service heads to ensure cross selling opportunities and efficient operations, high service quality and client satisfaction
  • Coordinate with HSBC Global office teams to leverage experience in markets and industries to provide highest level of knowledge and customer service

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Communicate a clear vision for the LAF that is aligned to the overall HSBC vision, Values and goals, and inspires and engages people to create an inclusive, high performing, customer-centred culture.
  • Lead, develop and motivate the team to attract, retain and develop the capacity, capability and talent on the ground to provide for succession and ensure delivery of business objectives.
  • Lead and mentor a team of LAF professionals, ensuring high performance and talent development for Saudi nationals.
  • Set expectations, share best practice and manage, monitor, coach and develop team leaders and others to ensure that they maximise their performance, meet the required standards, and continuously develop their capabilities and experience.
  • Lead and encourage constructive cross-country and cross-business teamwork by demonstrating collaboration and matrix management in action and challenging actions and behaviours that are not consistent with HSBC's diversity policy and/or the best interests of the business and its customers.

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Manage the processes, infrastructure and resources needed to deliver agreed team plans and targets, identifying and implementing improvements and collaborating with colleagues to maximise end to end integration, effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Maintain a robust and efficient control environment across LAF to ensure good operational, financial and project management and compliance with HSBC policy and procedures, together with early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise.
  • Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of a regional Debt Capital Market management information, analysis and reporting framework that supports and informs timely and effective business management and decision making at all levels.
  • Lead the implementation and oversight of LAF policy and governance frameworks, procedures, practices and standards to ensure quality, effective risk management and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications / Experience (

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance / Business Management is required
  • Master's degree in Finance / Business Management preferred
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) is preferred

Experience:

  • 12 years of relevant experience with at least 5 years in a similar role


  • Experience in Leveraged, Syndicated and Structured Finance in Saudi or within the region with a strong focus market connectivety.
