The Project Director – Facilities Management (FM) plays a pivotal role in leading, developing, and optimizing the organization's facilities management operations across multiple sites and functions. This position ensures that all assets, infrastructure, and services are aligned with business objectives, sustainability goals, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities and Competencies:

  • Strategic Facilities Management Leadership
  • Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of modern FM strategies, integrating asset management, sustainability, technology, and workplace optimization to enhance organizational efficiency and user satisfaction.
  • Policy and Process Development
  • Designs, implements, and continuously improves comprehensive FM policies, standard operating procedures, and service delivery frameworks that ensure consistency, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Team Leadership and Stakeholder Management
  • Provides strong, inspirational leadership to multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration among engineering, maintenance, environmental, and administrative professionals. Builds strategic relationships with internal stakeholders, service providers, and regulatory bodies to achieve shared objectives.
  • Financial and Budgetary Control
  • Oversees large-scale FM budgets with a focus on cost efficiency, value engineering, and lifecycle asset management. Develops and monitors financial plans, forecasts, and procurement strategies to deliver services within approved budgets and timelines.
  • Communication, Negotiation, and Influence
  • Communicates complex information effectively across all levels of the organization. Negotiates with contractors, vendors, and partners to secure optimal terms and service performance while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making
  • Utilizes data analytics, performance metrics, and predictive maintenance tools to inform strategic decisions. Translates insights into actionable improvements that drive operational efficiency and long-term value.
  • Compliance, Safety, and Sustainability
  • Ensures full adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations. Champions sustainability initiatives, risk management, and continuous improvement in operational resilience and environmental stewardship.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field.

Master's degree (MBA, MSc in Facilities Management, or related discipline) preferred.

Professional Certifications:
Certified Facility Manager (CFM) – IFMA, Member of the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (MIWFM) or equivalent, PMP, PRINCE2, or other recognized project management certification, ISO Facility Management Systems) or sustainability-related credentials (LEED, WELL, BREEAM) are advantageous

Experience:
Minimum
15 years
of progressive experience in facilities management, with at least
5 years in a senior leadership or director-level position

multi-site operations

. Demonstrated experience in
budget oversight

vendor relationship management
within a performance-driven environment.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Facilities Management Expertise:
  • Deep understanding of FM strategies, including asset lifecycle management, maintenance optimization, sustainability, and service delivery models (both in-house and outsourced).
  • Analytical and Data-Driven Mindset:
  • Ability to interpret operational data, KPIs, and performance dashboards to identify trends, forecast future requirements, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Technical and Digital Proficiency:
  • Hands-on experience with CAFM (Computer-Aided Facilities Management), BMS (Building Management Systems), IWMS, and smart building technologies.
  • Project and Change Management:
  • Demonstrated success in delivering complex FM projects, capital programs, and service transitions on time and within budget. PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Customer and Service Orientation:
  • Strong commitment to service excellence, client satisfaction, and continuous improvement in the built environment experience.
