Summary


We're looking for a dynamic Learning Support Assistant, who will be primarily responsible for assisting the classroom teacher with the implementation of delivering lessons to high school SEN students.


  • Job Duties
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection)
  • Help teachers plan learning activities and develop classroom materials following school procedures and policies
  • Assist the teacher in the delivery of lessons in accordance with the goals and objectives of a clearly defined and documented curriculum for students
  • Demonstrate creativity
  • Provide targeted support outside of the classroom
  • Work on differentiated activities with groups of students
  • Liaise with the SENCO/Inclusion manager to deliver SEN provision
  • Develop social/emotional skills (depending on individual need)
  • Work with teachers to monitor progress of students
  • Maintain a safe learning environment for students at all times
  • Respond appropriately to the range of individuals needs and abilities within the class
  • Supporting SEN students with their educational and personal development in a mainstream setting
  • Providing onetoone and small group support to students with barriers to learning, including those with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD), dyslexia, dyspraxia, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Assisting teachers in the preparation of learning materials and resources, including visual aids, audio resources, and ICT equipment
  • Helping to maintain a safe and positive learning environment for all students, including those with diverse learning needs
  • Assisting with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior plans for students with specific learning needs
  • Encouraging and promoting independence and selfesteem among all students receiving support
  • Be flexible and adaptable to changes with regards to distance learning if necessary

  • Qualifications and Knowledge
  • Previous knowledge of being a SENCO preferred
  • Experience and Skills

Experience:

  • Prior experience working with students who need additional support
  • Experience with G Suite/Microsoft Office

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Good interpersonal skills in interacting with students, parents and colleagues
  • Ability to supervise students in nonclassroom settings
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
