Field Operator, Coal and Ash is responsible for all field operations of jetty systems, coal handling system, and ash handling system. He/she must be in close coordination with the Coal and Ash control room, operate local valves, pumps, and equipment, check plant conditions, and isolate equipment for maintenance work. Ensure plant housekeeping, daily checklist filling, and reporting every activity to the control room.

Field Operations

  • Follow safety guidelines including PTW system.
  • Comply with all statutory and environmental norms.
  • Support Shift Supervisor in system configuration for local line-up and isolation of equipment.
  • Monitor and record local parameters (e.g., levels, pressure, temperatures of equipment, bearings, lube oils, etc.).
  • Conduct local monitoring of plant condition of equipment through observation, listening for abnormal sounds, detecting vibrations, heat, etc., and report to the desk operator.
  • Coordinate with control room operations.
  • Report any leakages of coal, ash, air, water, etc.
  • Manually operate valves, dampers, equipment, etc.
  • Ensure the correct position of piping hangers and supports.
  • Check for valves, safety valves, PRVs passing, and report to the control room.
  • Write major activities/events performed during the shift in the logbook and fill the area log sheets.
  • Adhere to SOPs/Operating Instructions.
  • Switch from automatic to manual controls and isolate equipment mechanically and electrically to allow for safe execution of repair work.
  • Adjust and/or control valves on equipment to regulate and set operations of the system or industrial processes.
  • Inform and report on accidents, suggest preventive measures.
  • Provide first-line support to report and initially extinguish fires, and other emergencies and critical occurrences, keeping the CCR informed at all times.
  • Report unsafe conditions and unsafe acts in the field to the competent authority.
  • Be a proactive team member and participate in teamwork.
  • Ensure housekeeping and cleanliness.
  • Work in any other area as assigned by the shift engineer or desk operator.
  • Comply with safety rules and regulations; be familiar with the fire equipment in the area.

Health, Safety, Security & Environment

  • Adhere to all relevant health, safety, security, and environmental procedures, instructions, and controls to guarantee the safety of employees and environmental compliance.
  • Monitor the environmental regulatory parameters regularly and report any deviations to Shift Supervisor/Engineer or CCR Operator for corrective action.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience, Requirements:

  • Technical Diploma holder in Engineering.
  • 1 - 3 years' experience in Coal Field operations in Power/Water desalination units.

Skills

  • Knowledge of relevant plant equipment and field operations.
  • Extensive experience as a local operator in any of the following: conventional, combined cycle, Water Desalination Plants like RO, MSF, MED, etc., and Renewable Energy types like Solar, Wind Mills, etc.
  • Aware of HSE & quality standards.
  • Knowledge of all relevant plant processes and equipment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of identification, classification, and disposal of waste.
  • Knowledge of firefighting equipment.
  • Teamwork and effective collaboration skills; embraces innovation.
  • Demonstrates integrity and respect.
  • Should be well-versed in Power/Water/Solar plant operational activities.
  • Good communication skills.
