AstraZeneca has a broad development programme for the treatment of gastrointestinal (GI) cancers across several medicines spanning a variety of tumour types and stages of disease. Within this programme, AstraZeneca is committed to improving outcomes in gastric, liver, biliary tract, oesophageal, pancreatic, and colorectal cancers.

We are looking for a Medical Advisor to join our growing team within gastrointestinal (GI) cancers especially with the prelaunch readiness for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and biliary tract cancer (BTC) indications. This role is a core member of the brand team and takes the medical lead in Gastrointestinal cancers in Saudi Arabia through demonstrating scientific value by strategic partnering with internal and external stakeholders by engaging key external experts (KEEs), understanding, and anticipating their needs and by translating them proactively into actions.

In this role, you will support the strategic planning and delivery of all medical affairs initiatives in specific brands to support the local objectives. Next to that you help the cross-functional team who is active in the therapeutic area of gastrointestinal cancers to ensure that they optimally contribute to their specific task. You will support local clinical development and medical evidence generation & and build confidence for AZ products to shape clinical practice with a clear patient centric approach.

These outputs are guaranteed through continuously building robust scientific and medical expertise on the therapeutic area, AstraZeneca products and its competitors in combination with a business acumen attitude and strong communication skills.

**What you’ll do**
- Build, enhance and maintain the engagement with all multi-disciplinary scientific leaders (KOLs) managing gastro-intestinal tumors in Saudi Arabia.
- Set up KOLs database in responsible region and conduct regular medical communication.
- Deliver best in class, scientific, educational meetings executed in accordance with AstraZeneca Medical, compliance and local regulatory and legal frameworks.
- Design and conduct disease management program according to timeline and with good quality.
- Develop and share emerging data with HCPs, discussing all aspects of the data in a scientific, objective and balanced way. Disseminate results of studies completed to medical community by translating their clinical values and incorporating into business strategies.
- Provide the AZ internal partners with an understanding of the medical trends, clinical practice and competitive intelligence.
- Develop and implement the local medical plan to address unmet medical needs in priority disease areas and ensure alignment with the brand plan.
- Ensure an efficient implementation of local Oncology field medical strategic plan (FMSP) versus medical excellence KPIs.
- Optimizing local Saudi Data Generation & Disseminations. Lead Policy & clinical practice shaping projects.
- Works in a collaborative manner with cross-functional colleagues to ensure a Key Account Management approach
- Set up and support real world data program and/or ongoing clinical trials led by AstraZeneca evidence generation team.
- Strategize and execute pre/peri-launch Medical readiness plans /activities for new assets/ Indications at least 18 Months prior to the planned launch to address key clinical and scientific challenges.
- Provide medical leadership on faculty and content development for medical programmes including national congresses, advisory boards, scientific exchange meetings, publications, CMEs to meet identified needs.
- Ensures compliance with AZ code of conduct, Corporate Governance, Audit’s requirement, guidelines, codes, policies and procedures.

**Essential for the role**
- Medical or Pharmacist Degree (preferable medical doctor or pharmacist) or scientific degree with PhD.
- Minimum 1 Year experience in the same medical affairs role within Oncology Therapy Area is a MUST.
- Proven expertise in understanding, assimilating, and communicating scientific content.
- Entrepreneurial and collaborative approach to engaging with external partners as well as cross-functional colleagues.
- Working knowledge and understanding of relevant Legislation and Codes of Practice relating to promotional activities.
- Demonstrated understanding of patient needs.
- Current familiarity with healthcare environment, including opinion leaders, academia, the medical community, and related dynamics in Saudi Arabia.
- Knowledgeable of the Pharma and Saudi healthcare environment.
- Medical integrity and ethical balance
