We have an opportunity for R&D Engineer/Scientist I in Dhahran, KSA.
Honeywell UOP is a world leader in developing technologies for the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries.
The R&D Engineer will take part in various development projects related to process, catalyst and equipment related research. The R&D Engineer will participate in the complete project cycle, including idea generation, implementation, performance analysis and diagnosis/troubleshooting of any issues. Customer interaction will be required when conducting joint research projects with regional companies and academic institutions. The R&D Engineer will become familiar with operating the pilot plants and analytical instruments in UOP’s laboratories at DTV and KFUPM and will help with day-to-day operations and logistics including the procurement of chemicals and equipment and taking the lead on H&SE monitoring and compliance.
**R&D Engineer/Scientist I Responsibilities**
- Participate on UOP internal R&D projects by global teams taking part in virtual meetings and providing expertise and completing assigned tasks in a precise and timely manner.
- Participate on collaborative technology development programs between UOP and Middle East technology partners (Universities and key UOP customers).
- Participate in projects conducted in UOP labs in the region (currently in DTV and KFUPM) and execute with timely completion and high quality data generation.
- Maintain an active project portfolio of 3-5 projects in catalyst, adsorbent and process development.
- Document, interpret and correlate results from experimental and pilot plant work as well as commercial data when applicable and generate models as needed.
- Assist in the laboratory procurement of chemicals and equipment and contribute to the financial forecasting and budgeting for the UOP labs.
- Conduct all work (lab and office) with high degree of attention to HS&E procedures and regulations and assist in maintaining logs of HS&E related incidents and activities.
- Interface with other R&D groups and with business / sales groups in different business units within Honeywell.
- Stay current with open literature and patents related to assigned projects
- Communicate project progress, results, deliverables and issues to key stakeholders periodically and timely reports.
**Qualifications**
- MS or PhD in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry is required
- 2+ years experience of working in a R&D laboratory
- 2+ years experience on pilot plant operations
- Knowledge of analytical methods and operating analytical equipment such as Gas Chromatographs.
- Knowledge of pilot plant components design features
- Knowledge of petroleum refining, petrochemical and natural gas processes
- Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills are required
- Strong teamwork skills
- Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to do hands-on work in a laboratory.
- Ability to travel about 10% of time on annual basis within and outside the ME as required.
