We are Looking for a R&D Director for one our well-Known clients based in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia:
**Title: Research & Development (R&D) Director**

**Industry**: Multi-cultural FMCG organization

**Experience**:
***8-10 years in Relevant field

**Reports to**:
***VP - Marketing & shared services

**Job Profile**:To identify research and development strategic objectives and formulate the R&D strategy, provide operational oversight on research activities and contribute to organization’s strategic objectives within set KPIs, budget and respective policies and processes.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Strategic Contribution**
- Direct the implementation of the annual business plan and targets and implement the strategic agenda of the R&D department to deliver vision and mission.
- Ensure that the strategy is translated into operational business plans for the R&D department and monitor the performance and execution of those plans to achieve functional objectives and deliver the company's strategy.

- Direct the activities of the R&D team to ensure that all work is carried out efficiently, in line with the strategic project management plans, policies and procedures.
- Build and lead a motivated, engaged and competent team, by setting priorities and objectives, managing performance, and providing ongoing feedback and coaching to meet the functional challenges and goals.
- Serve as a role model to ensure employees' awareness and commitment to vision, mission, values, and corporate strategy to establish a highly engaged and motivated team, and continuously improve performance.

**Budgeting
- **Develop, submit and upon approval, implement the R&D budget, monitoring its accurate execution, identifying cost-saving opportunities and proposing corrective actions in case of deviations, to ensure compliance with pre-set targets.

**Research & Development -**
- Define R&D roadmap and development plan and ensure that those plans are aligned to the company objectives and product and safety policies.
- Ensure that the company concerned department is engaged in identifying, defining, and prioritizing innovation opportunities and solutions to assess and implement viable new products in line with the overall strategy.
- Establish and ensure the implementation of an effective internal research management system utilizing information management systems (IMS) to enhance the ability of the company to manage all research projects across their full lifecycle.
- Ensure all new products viability, monitor the related cost, quality standards and time required for production to ensure alignment with the metrics.

**5. Product Improvement**
- Lead the development and enhancement of existing and new products ensure that changeovers are completed accurately to develop product value, address new customer segments to diversify products portfolio.
- Lead the monitoring and assessment of all products raw material and new product ingredient for potential repercussions of ingredients to protect firm’s best interests and ensure food safety.
- Ensure that the design, process, and material of the products' packaging meet sanitary regulations and legal guidelines in KSA and international markets to maximize the value of products' printed material and packaging.
- Direct the sensory and product guidance projects and activities across products through leading sensory and consumer insight analysis and product guidance such as ingredients mixing, flavours making, tasting, etc. to ensure products are designed and manufactured within budget and according to consumer needs and expectations.

**6. Process Improvement**
- Support planning and executing improvement projects for the manufacturing processes to improve process reliability by analyzing current process parameters to achieve lean manufacturing in the plants and contribute to cost savings.
- Provide expertise for all units in processes improvement, processes design etc. when needed, ensure that the new implemented designs respond to quality and safety requirement.

**7. Processes, policies & Procedures**:

- Manage the development and implementation of the R&D policies, systems, processes and procedures, identifying potential areas for improvement, to ensure efficient and effective operation.
- Ensure compliance with corporate requirements on adherence to policies, procedures and instructions related to all relevant regulatory directives to ensure a safe and risk-free environment.

**8. Change Management**
- Motivate the employees and contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account best practices.
