Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technician Metrology Specialist to join our team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our calibration team, you will be responsible for applying measurement science, mathematics, and physics to develop, document, and maintain calibration systems, procedures, and methods for mechanical, pressure/vacuum, temperature, humidity, dimensional, test measuring, and diagnostic equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain traceability by operating an internal comparison measurement program and sending reference standards to a higher-level calibration laboratory for certification.
  • Undertake the calibration of a wide range of measurement standards, analyze results, and produce certificates of calibration.
  • Maintain accurate records for all items of test measuring and diagnostic equipment calibrated by the team.
  • Participate in measurement audit programs and internal quality control systems.
  • Assist with the development of special measurement methods and drafting of local calibration procedures.
  • Provide assistance to secondary calibration squadron staff to resolve measurement problems.
  • Assist with training programs for RSAF and Saudi National trainees.
Requirements
  • Education to a minimum level of Ordinary National Certificate in Physics/Electro-Mechanics/Mechanical Engineering or significant work experience and demonstrated academic abilities.
  • Sound academic background in mechanics, mechanical engineering, and mathematics.
  • Good knowledge of statistics and methods of estimating uncertainty of measurement results.
  • Understanding of international standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005.
  • Extensive practical experience in calibration of test measuring and diagnostic equipment, including diagnostic and rectification work.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in performing calibrations using primary standards.
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to recognize discrepancies and invalid results.
Desirable Skills
  • Ability to develop software using Microsoft Excel, Metler Toledo, and Fluke or LabView.
  • Good understanding of RSAF MetCal processes and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of RSAF Supply and Maintenance procedures.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel.
  • Good knowledge of English grammar and ability to prepare reports and letters to a high standard.
