**1 ROLE DETAILS**- **Position Title**:Assistant Coach (emphasis S&C)
- **Reports to**:Head Coach
- **Direct Reports**:Lead S&C Combat Sports
- **Department**:Sport Strategy & Performance
- **External Relationships**:SOPC, Athletes, Coaches, and National Federation

**2 ROLE PURPOSE**
- Develop and progress elite and emerging elite athletes to achieve medal winning performances.
- The Assistant Coach will provide coaching to a team of athletes who have the potential to succeed at an international level.
- Deliver strength and conditioning services as required for the targeted sport and athletes to improve performance potential and reduce injury risk through consistent physical development.

**3 RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Support the Head Coach in developing a world-class training program
- Provide ‘hands-on’ coaching on a daily basis to support the development of inspired and empowered athletes with medal-winning potential
- Deliver S&C support to athletes primarily focusing on alignment to the S&C disciplinary pillars of “profiling & diagnostics”, “planning & programming” and “coaching delivery.”
- Support athlete’s physical development and competition preparation practices, during training camps and international competitions
- Adopt an individualized & collaborative case management approach when assessing athlete needs, determining training goals, and prescribing athletic performance improvement plans.
- Contribute insight to the coaching staff and MDT in support of informed decision making, which is aligned to the performance objectives.
- Develop and execute short
- and long-term training programs to improve sport specific skills
- Support integration with the SOTC Athlete Management System to enhance engagement across the system and ensure accurate record keeping.

**4 EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE**
- Minimum 4 years coaching preferably in sports performance including previous experience in Olympic sports institutes, professional clubs or national teams.
- Extensive performance knowledge and technical expertise in the assigned sport
- Experience and insights concerning the long-term programming for athletes’ physical development
- Experience and insights concerning the transfer of training to competitive performance
- Experience of working towards defined objectives within a multi-disciplinary team within an organization
- Experience understanding individual personal styles and developing influence strategies that appeal to the different styles within a team to get results
- Understanding of the trends shaping the future of the sport in general
- Demonstrable knowledge of best practice coaching, within both technical and athletic domains

**5 SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES**
- Expertise in the specific sport, including technical skills, strategies, and coaching methodologies.
- Demonstrable skills in coaching athletes at various levels, with an understanding of athlete development in the context of developmental stage.
- The ability to take responsibility for athletes' training progress and results, striving for continuous improvement.
- The ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, in designing and implementing training programs that complement athletes' physical, technical, and mental development.
- Ability to collaborate with head coaches, athletes, and support staff to optimize training environments.
- Demonstrable understanding of strength training & conditioning principles, exercise techniques, and periodization.
- Demonstrable understanding of how to evaluate athletes' physical capabilities, movement patterns, injury risk factors, and potential areas of improvement.
- Expertise in effectively teaching proper exercise techniques and ensuring athletes execute movements safely and efficiently.

**6 QUALIFICATIONS**
- Relevant coaching qualification (national or recognized international accreditation)
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications desirable
- Professional certification in home country is preferred
