About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Director to join our Project Management division at Turner & Townsend. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that client objectives are met and that projects are delivered to time and cost targets and the appropriate quality, sustainability, and safety standards.

The successful candidate will have excellent management and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong core technical skillset, including a deep understanding of construction and commercial and contractual awareness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Governance: Develop and manage a suite of governance, communication, and management control systems to ensure the proper conduct and assured delivery of client services and works.
  • Organizational Alignment: Review the organization structures of parties and recommend alignment measures to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Team Performance: Monitor overall team performance and initiate safety or performance improvement measures and methodologies as required.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Monitor and audit compliance with management systems and report as required, while continually identifying project risks and actively assigning and managing mitigations.
  • Progress Meetings: Initiate and conduct weekly technical and progress meetings relating to services and works.
  • Client Reviews: Manage client stage gateway reviews and attainment of conditions precedent to such approvals.
  • Design and Delivery: Manage the attainment of design stage deliverables to schedule and quality, concurrent with fast-track works package procurements and associated permitting and approvals requirements.
  • Site Visits: Attend site(s) as often as required to review HSSE, logistics, and progress against the programme.
  • Reporting: Produce formal reports on project progress measured against the baseline and milestone dates and agreed project-wide KPIs.
  • Contract Administration: Manage and administer relevant contracts, affording appropriate protection of the client's interests.
Requirements
  • Leadership Experience: Experience of managing and leading a team in a construction environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Engineering degree with chartered status.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding and experience of the energy industry from a technical and commercial perspective.
  • Construction Industry Expertise: Understanding and experience of the engineering and construction industry from a technical and commercial perspective.
