Job Description

The Construction Director will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring that their objectives are met and projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality, sustainability, and safety standards. We are seeking a highly motivated and self-driven individual with excellent communication skills who can make a significant impact on the Project Management division.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional management and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong technical skillset, including a deep understanding of construction, commercial, and contractual aspects. As a Construction Director, you will be responsible for managing a diverse range of clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders, and will be expected to provide strategic guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and Implement Governance and Management Systems: Establish and maintain a suite of governance, communication, and management control systems to ensure the proper conduct and assured delivery of client services and works.
  2. Review and Recommend Organizational Structures: Conduct a thorough review of the organizational structures of parties involved and recommend alignment measures to ensure effective collaboration and project delivery.
  3. Monitor Team Performance and Safety: Regularly monitor team performance and initiate safety or performance improvement measures as necessary to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  4. Audit and Report Compliance: Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with management systems and report any findings to relevant stakeholders.
  5. Identify and Manage Project Risks: Continuously identify potential project risks and develop and implement mitigation strategies to minimize their impact.
  6. Conduct Regular Progress Meetings: Organize and conduct regular technical and progress meetings with stakeholders to ensure that projects are on track and that any issues are addressed promptly.
  7. Manage Client Stage Gateway Reviews: Coordinate and manage client stage gateway reviews and ensure that all necessary conditions precedent are met to secure approvals.
  8. Manage Design and Construction Deliverables: Oversee the attainment of design stage deliverables and manage the concurrent delivery of fast-track works packages, ensuring that all necessary permits and approvals are in place.
  9. Monitor Site Progress and Safety: Regularly visit project sites to review health, safety, environmental, and logistics aspects and ensure that projects are progressing in accordance with the program.
  10. Prepare Project Reports: Produce regular project progress reports, measured against baseline and milestone dates, and agreed project-wide KPIs, for the Employer's representative.
  11. Manage Contracts and Client Interests: Administer relevant contracts and ensure that the client's interests are protected at all times.
Qualifications
  1. Experience in Construction Management: Proven experience in managing and leading teams in a construction environment.
  2. Engineering Degree and Chartered Status: Possession of an engineering degree with chartered status.
  3. Industry Knowledge and Experience: Understanding and experience of the energy industry from a technical and commercial perspective.
  4. Construction Industry Expertise: Understanding and experience of the engineering and construction industry from a technical and commercial perspective.
