Job Title: Senior Environmental and Sustainability Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental and Sustainability Manager to join our team at Parsons. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with government, client, and Parsons requirements regarding sustainability and environmental protection and improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and deploy a strategy for environmental and sustainability management.
  2. Provide oversight of project-level risks and ensure that environmental and sustainability considerations are integrated into the overall design process.
  3. Work in partnership with clients and stakeholders to develop and implement environmental and sustainability programs.
  4. Represent Parsons and the client as required, providing technical expertise and guidance on environmental and sustainability matters.
  5. Develop and implement environmental and sustainability management systems, including Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and ISO 14001.
  6. Provide training and support to staff on environmental and sustainability best practices.
  7. Monitor emerging sustainability-related legal compliance and government and industry best practices.
  8. Apply knowledge and drive best practice to meet sustainable standards.
  9. Manage contractors and the wider supply chain, relating to environmental and sustainability performance and improvements.
  10. Champion campaigns to promote engagement in program sustainability/environmental awareness campaigns.
  11. Assist the client with developing and implementing a sustainability strategy.
  12. Advise the Program Exec Team of potential business risks associated with emerging legislation and recommend solutions.
  13. Consult with subject matter experts to utilize the most up-to-date guidance and codes of practice and communicate clearly and appropriately to staff throughout Parsons.
  14. Be the go-to person for guidance on all the latest trends and dedicate time to research and monitor announcements from key industry bodies, institutions, and networks to stay ahead of the curve.
  15. Deliver presentations and training on environmental and sustainability topics.
Requirements:
  1. Broad experience of delivering environment and sustainability (E&S) management programs on large design/construction projects.
  2. Demonstrable ability to bring to life strategic business objectives with action and follow-up.
  3. Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent qualification) in environmental science, environmental health, environmental law, environmental engineering, and/or sustainability.
  4. Professional membership of relevant institution (e.g., IEMA, CIWM, CIBSE).
  5. Good understanding of legislative requirements, including SECR, ESOS, European Performance of Buildings Directive (EPCs/DECs/TM44 air conditioning inspections), MEES, Waste Management.
  6. Experience of Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001).
  7. CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant or Assessor.
  8. LEED or BREEAM assessor.
  9. Financial business case development (MACC, OPEX, CAPEX, NPV).
  10. Experience of working with or for a construction client, contractor, or consultancy.
  11. Experience of working on a mega construction project.

This role will require a detail-oriented people person with a passion for sustainability and environmental protection, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to navigate a large-scale, complex business.
