Our client, a leading company in the commodities sector, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Vice President of Business Development to lead their business growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in business development, particularly within the commodities market. This role requires a deep understanding of the industry, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive revenue growth through strategic partnerships and innovative business strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies to drive growth and expand the company's presence in the commodities market.
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, market trends, and competitive landscape to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to align business development initiatives with overall company goals.

Market Expansion:

  • Lead efforts to enter new markets and expand the company's reach within existing markets.
  • Develop market entry strategies and oversee the execution of market penetration plans.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and industry influencers.

Revenue Growth:

  • Drive revenue growth through the identification and pursuit of new business opportunities.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and increase market share.
  • Oversee the negotiation and closing of high-value deals and contracts.

Partnership Development:

  • Identify and establish strategic partnerships that enhance the company's market position and drive business growth.
  • Manage relationships with existing partners and develop new partnership opportunities.
  • Leverage partnerships to access new markets, technologies, and customer segments.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing business development team.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
  • Set clear performance goals and provide regular feedback and coaching to team members.

Market Intelligence and Reporting:

  • Conduct market research and analysis to stay informed about industry trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on business development activities, market trends, and performance metrics to the executive team.
  • Utilize market intelligence to inform business development strategies and identify growth opportunities.

Brand Positioning:

  • Develop and execute strategies to enhance the company's brand positioning within the commodities market.
  • Promote the company's value proposition to key stakeholders through effective communication and marketing initiatives.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the business development budget to ensure optimal allocation of resources.
  • Monitor expenses and ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with business development activities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, with a focus on the commodities sector.
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and expanding market presence.
  • Strong understanding of the commodities market and industry dynamics.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience managing high-performing teams.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute innovative business strategies.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
