The Director of the Data Management Office (DMO) is responsible for leading the strategy, governance, and execution of data management practices across the organization. This role ensures that the organization's data is managed as a strategic asset, with a focus on data quality, privacy, security, and accessibility. The Director will guide the establishment and continuous improvement of data management frameworks, working collaboratively with key stakeholders across business units and IT to optimize data usage, drive decision-making, and ensure compliance with regulations. The role also involves leading a team of data professionals to foster a culture of data-driven innovation within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and implement the overall data management strategy in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Define and drive the data governance, data quality, and data privacy frameworks to ensure consistent and high-quality data management practices across the organization.
  • Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on data-related issues, including data strategy, architecture, analytics, and emerging technologies.
Data Governance & Compliance:
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure data consistency, security, and compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the development of data governance tools, processes, and metrics for measuring data quality and performance.
  • Ensure adherence to data privacy and security regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.) and help develop the company's data risk management framework.
  • Work closely with the IT department to define and manage the organization's data architecture, infrastructure, and tools, ensuring scalability and alignment with business needs.
  • Oversee the integration of data systems and platforms across the organization, supporting enterprise-wide data initiatives such as data lakes, data warehouses, and cloud-based solutions.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing data management team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Provide coaching and career development opportunities to team members, ensuring that skills and expertise are up to date with emerging trends in data management.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Collaborate with business units, IT teams, and external vendors to understand data needs, resolve issues, and implement solutions.
  • Work with the analytics and business intelligence teams to ensure that high-quality, accurate, and relevant data is available to support business decision-making.
  • Facilitate data-related training and awareness across the organization.
Data Analytics & Reporting:
  • Ensure the availability of clean, reliable, and accessible data for analytical and reporting purposes, driving data-driven decision-making at all levels of the organization.
  • Monitor and report on the status of key data initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope.
  • Stay abreast of emerging data management trends, technologies, and industry best practices, and provide recommendations for adoption within the organization.
  • Evaluate and implement new data technologies and methodologies to improve data quality, management, and insights.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in data management, data governance, IT strategy, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in building and managing data governance frameworks and teams.
  • Experience with data architectures such as data lakes, data warehouses, and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Strong understanding of data privacy and security regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Deep knowledge of data management tools and technologies, including data integration, data quality, and data governance platforms.
  • Experience with data analytics and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking capabilities.
