Business Development Manager

The business development manager is responsible for expanding company's operational windows and increase revenues. The BDM is also responsible for identifying new markets and attracting new clients. The Business Development Manager to generate new business opportunities, identify potential areas & clients, develop strategic plans and sales strategies, conduct presentations, and negotiations with prospective customers.
The manager will be accountable for delivering and maintaining high standards of customer relations through both sales efforts and business operations.
**Responsibilities**:
The BDM is responsible to develop a detailed business plan in consultation with higher management and follow the same so as to achieve specific goals & objectives of the business unit.
The BDM should be able to conduct extensive market search prior to starting up a new business window and continue gathering information about the business as it progresses.
The BDM is responsible to investigate the economic conditions of surroundings such as industry trends and competition in each window of business.
A detailed long term business plan should be finalized in view of strategies, goals and objective of business on each operating window basis. The plan need to be reviewed to cop up with changing scenarios and based on prevailing economic conditions.
The BDM should foresee and plan sufficient financial resources for future development or expansion of the business as it progress. It is essential to consider referring to the project analysis maintained by the project accounting department to have better info about the business in progress.
The BDM should be able to gather information on other business houses in the same line and review the stand for effective marketing.
Conducting or attending workshops, trade shows, and seminars is important to keep up-to-date on changes in the industry and to gather information on potential business windows.
The BDM is responsible to develop a team approach and should be in frequent communication with the project team to know deep about critical jobs for further improvement and to achieve / pursue common goals. It is also necessary to understand the special skills, capabilities of the project team and other resources while approaching a special service requirement and lead to custom made solutions.
The BDM is also responsible for developing a situation analysis of the company including its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to assist in the development of a strategic plan for the future of the business.
The BDM should be able to identify and assign key actions that the marketing department is going to pursue for effective business and develop the team work.
A BDM should be able to present the strategy clearly to its customers. The strategy should contain a clear vision followed by a set of clear time-bound actions in order to achieve consistent success.
As a key person, the BDM has an important role in managing the performance of their staff. This includes employee selection, career development, resource planning and working out compensation and rewards. The BDM is responsible for the growth and increase in the organizations' finances and revenue.
Ensure accountability including directing and controlling expenditures, market searching and compiling competitive market information.
The BDM is responsible for the development and continuation of the sales functions including pricing and bidding of projects, market penetration, business growth, and follow up with existing customers.
Minimum requirement:
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Project Engineering with minimum 10 years experience in petrochemical/refining/chemical plant engineering project, maintenance project marketing in management level. Preferable Gulf experience.
