About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Sunset Hospitality Group. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the daily operation of the kitchen, ensuring the preparation and presentation of food meets our high standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and presentation
  • Supervise and coordinate the kitchen team to ensure efficient and effective service
  • Monitor and maintain high standards of food quality, safety, and hygiene
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, and stock control
  • Develop and implement new recipes and menu ideas
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to create specials for the menu
  • Ensure the proper appearance and grooming of all kitchen staff
  • Monitor daily attendance and performance of kitchen staff
  • Develop skills and knowledge to stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices
Requirements
  • Degree in Culinary Arts or a related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in kitchen management, at least 1 year as Junior Sous Chef
  • Good English language skills
  • Knowledge of Food Safety, HACCP, Sanitation, and Personal Hygiene basics
  • Ability to maintain high quality control standards
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control
  • Ability to supervise and direct line cooks and assistant line cooks
  • Handles multiple priorities and ability to work under pressure and take initiative in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly cooperative team spirit
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn
  • Must have problem-solving abilities, be self-motivated, and organized
Working Conditions
  • Physical handling of products such as handling objects up to 25 kilograms
  • Moderate exposure to high temperature, dust, fumes, smoke, and loud noises
  • Long working hours, working during holidays, and covering different shifts (night shifts and weekends)
  • Work environment involves potential exposure to hazards or physical risks, which requires following basic safety precautions
